Cameras

Although you can of course bring a camera and take personal photographs, please do not take any photographs of the general group. We have quite a few members who do not wish to be publicly identified as slashers due to conflicts with family and career.

In particular, please do not take any photographs during grey_evil_twin's BDSM display. We've had issues with this before at the last two get togethers. The legality of what we are doing is dodgy enough, and people feel that they cannot relax and enjoy themselves if they are being photographed doing something that could get them fired.

If you want to take someone's photograph at other times, please check that they are all right with it before hand - that is, none of the 'stealth photography' that was going on at the last Sinpoz.

Please do not put any photographs taken at Sinpozium up on the web.

No Hitting

On a side note to the BDSM display, I'd like to request that no body hits any body else without their express consent. I know all those whips and chains and butt plugs are ever so tempting, but please do not get so carried away you feel the need to spank the person nearest to you. Unless you do so in the privacy of your own hotel room later on - in which case, hey, knock yourself out! (Not literally). Again, it's an issue of respect of for our guest presenter and attendees, and the fact that it's bordering on illegal.

Smoking, alcohol, and food

The entire hotel is a no-smoking area. If you smoke, please go outside. There is a covered area near the front of the building. If you're smoking dope, hey, don't Bogart that blunt!

Alcohol is allowed in the rooms and there are plenty of liquor shops in the area. Please avoid bringing alcohol into the function room.

The hotel does not like us to have food in the function rooms, but have turned a blind eye to our having snacks and nibbles in the past, so it's fine to bring along something to munch during the day. Please avoid making a mess, and remove your own rubbish (just so we don't make it too obvious we are snacking in their rooms).

Children

Please do not bring children to sinpozium. Young slashers are welcome, but we request you find a sitter for the weekend rather than bring any kids along.

I am still quite bummed over the photo-taking at the one before that, to be honest.

I'm just trying to cover the things that have been complained about in the past. Someone bringing children, someone hitting others when told to stop it, someone taking photos when they shouldn't (which has happened at the last two). No one means harm, but I thought if I pointed it out beforehand, it'll save upset on the day.

We've never had any complaints about food, alcohol, smoking etc, but everyone's been very good about those things in the past.

Sure, if you like. I'm mostly concerned with a couple of incidences of people who were told 'no' but went ahead and spanked others anyway.

Everyone might find 'manners' interesting, as that's something that just does not turn up in fiction.
