[identity profile] erilyn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sinpozium
Here's a proposal for the next Sinpozium. At this point, we're trying to gauge interest, so please reply if you think you'd be interested or if you've got suggestions or whatever. I'm also posting this to the Sinpozium yahoo group, so you can participate in discussion in whichever forum you prefer :)

Sinpozium IV
Saturday 11th June – Monday 13th June, 2005 (June long weekend in most states)
YWCA ‘Y on the Park’ Hotel
5-11 Wentworth Ave, Sydney (corner of Wentworth Ave and Oxford St)
Cost: $35 for function space for the weekend.

Essentially, the same as what we did last time, in 2002.

There would be discussions, presentations, games, viewage of whatever people want to share and most importantly, hanging out with lots of other slash fans. Everyone is encouraged (begged) to participate and all fandoms are welcome :)

Other stuff:
The hotel is very easy to access by train or bus, and there are various parking stations nearby if you need to drive.

Food would be self-catered, in that none would be organised by the hotel (that's very expensive), apart from breakfast for those staying there, of course *g*. There are lots of takeaway places, cafes and restaurants along Oxford St, as well as two close supermarkets.

It isn't compulsory to stay at the hotel to attend Sinpoz, but a wide variety of rooms are available, from about $30 per night per person (including breakfast). If you don't have someone to share with, there are backpacker rooms so you can get the cheap rate, or you can ask onlist if there's someone who'd like to share. The hotel was clean and comfortable last time, and very reasonably priced. Room rates can be seen here.

Sounds good. We had lots of fun last time; and I think that I'll be intending to stay at the hotel this time, because the trek was a pain.

And you can add me to the helper list :)

Even though I could only stay until everyone went out to dinner last time I had a great time. I would love to attend next year, and help out if there is anything that needs doing.

I'll say yes at the moment. The June holiday would be more convenient for me, and at those prices, I should be able to afford it.

Count me in! I am also willing to help out, and yeah, would probably end up booking a room as coming back and forth sucked.

I still have all the details and files (I have the paper files... just give me a few days warning because I'm no longer sure which box they got filed in) from last time. I'm quite willing to help this time as well.

I'd say book the larger room. Not the huge room, given the usual numbers, but where we ended up. Otherwise it could be a tad constrained. Better to have some room to spread out.

I'll dig out the info when I get a chance.

Okay, I'm cumming... I mean coming... damn Freudian slips must wear a girdle next time.

Wow, I haven't slept since sometime Friday that could explain lots.

I am lucid enough however to accept the invite to Sinpoz 05. I think I'll stay at the hotel as well. I'll need a break from work by then (lots of projects coming up).

If you wanna contact me I'm in AIM, MSN and the loverly YahooMail. Just visit me in LJ for all the goss :)

I'd love to come, if you'd have me. I'd also love to help, though I'm not sure how much use I'll be. But I've heard the stories of the last gathering ([livejournal.com profile] tboy! [livejournal.com profile] luthien67! :P) and I wouldn't miss it for the world. :-)

I'm interested, if you don't mind the shy retiring type *muffles laughter from her friends* Okay shy and retiring till I get to know people anyway :)

Put me down as interested and we'll see closer if I can get up there from Melbourne.

And I'll think about seeing if there is anything I can do to contribute.

I'm another shy retiring type. But I'd love to meet other slashers. I'm interested. I'm from Adelaide, and I love visiting Sydney, so it's a double bonus. :)
