No sinpOZium this year

Apologies on behalf of the committee - as you may have guessed due to the silence on this community, we will not be holding a sinpOZium this year.

The reasons are:

1) October long weekend is not a long weekend all over Australia, which is hard on some interstate attendees, Instead we will aim for a long weekend next year (2005) that will be available to everyone.

2) Inability to find a location cheap enough to satisfy the attendees, yet comfortable enough to provide meeting rooms, bedrooms etc., as have been requested. We hope to find something to allow us to do this, and

3) Inability to find any fans other than ourselves willing to participate in providing programming material (do stuff). That's an ongoing challenge though, and one we will probably ignore once we get the accommodation issues sorted out.

Stay with us, and maybe we'll have something for next year instead.

And if you have any suggestions for accommodation/programme material, we would be interested in hearing it.

Excellent summing up! My only accommodation suggestion remains the YWCA, unfortunately.

I'm not adverse to going back there. Although it did exclude people on cost, unfortunately. I think that being in a hotel kind of puts an expectation on that there will be programming items...

No, thank you for doing something! As for cost, the function room cost wasn't too bad, and it is central enough that people could not stay the night.
